Upload one photo
A full-body mirror selfie is ideal. Make sure the whole outfit is visible, shoes included, in reasonable light. Busy backgrounds are fine.

Choose the tone and the occasion
Kind, balanced, harsh or roast changes how the feedback is worded. The occasion changes what the outfit is judged against: a wedding guest look and a campus look are scored by different standards.

You get an overall score, four category scores with a one-line reason each, what is already working, and the style your look is closest to.
What your outfit score is made of
One number on its own tells you nothing you can act on. Every rating breaks down into the four categories below, each scored out of 10 with a one-line reason.
- Silhouette
- The shape the clothes make on you: proportions, leg line, waist definition, how layers balance and drape. Not just whether things fit, but whether the overall shape works.
- Color harmony
- How the colors work together and with your skin tone: palette cohesion, contrast, undertones and accents.
- Trendiness
- How current the outfit reads. Does it reference what people are wearing now, or feel stuck in an older cycle?
- Polish
- How intentional and considered the look feels. Deliberate and put together, or thrown on. This is about care, not formality.
What is a good outfit rating out of 10?
The rater is calibrated so most everyday outfits land around 7. These are the balanced-mode bands the model is instructed to use. Balanced never goes below 6.5; harsh and roast use the full scale.

Kind, balanced, harsh or roast my outfit
Most outfit raters have one voice. Here you choose how the truth is delivered. The tone changes, the standard does not.
- Kind. Honest scores, encouraging words. A weak outfit still gets a lower score, framed constructively.
- Balanced. A discerning consultant. Critical and realistic, the default.
- Harsh. Direct and unfiltered. Nothing is softened.
- Roast. The same read, delivered as a roast. Expect the comments and the score to be blunt.

Is the outfit rater really free?
Yes. The web rater is free with no signup, with a small monthly allowance per connection. The Outfit Rater iPhone app has an optional Pro plan for unlimited ratings.
How does the AI rate my outfit?
A vision AI model reads the photo and scores four things stylists actually argue about: silhouette, color harmony, trendiness and polish. It judges against the occasion you pick, and it is calibrated so an ordinary everyday outfit lands around 7, not 9.
What is a good outfit score out of 10?
In balanced mode, 7.0 to 7.4 is a solid everyday outfit, 7.5 and up is good, and 8.5 and up is genuinely great. Scores of 9 and above are rare by design.
What kind of photo works best?
A full-body photo where the whole outfit is visible, including shoes, in decent light. Mirror selfies work well. If the photo does not show an outfit, the rater tells you instead of guessing.
Do you keep my photo?
Photos are used only to rate your outfit, are not used to train AI models, and are automatically deleted within 48 hours. See the privacy policy for details.
